Cadpat Uniform Insignia

Cadpat Insignia

Various patterns of insignia were trialed for the CADPAT uniform. Rank insignia, national and unit titles, name tags and other insignia were produced in small quantities for trial wear. Insignia with black embroidery was produced, as well as epaulette slides with rank and national titles embroidered directly onto the slide. Neither were adopted. The approved pattern of rank insignia is embroidered onto the slide, with either a national or unit title sewn in place. Name tags have the soldier's name and the insignia of the Element he or she belongs to.

The rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) or Chief Petty Officer 1 (CPO 1) encompasses many positions within the Canadian Armed Forces, each with a separate rank insignia. The insignia of the National Coat Of Arms surmounting crossed swords, and crossed swords and maple leaf indicating Base Chief Warrant Officer, Army Chief Warrant Officer or Fleet Chief Petty Officer were declared obsolete in late 2005 and replaced by a simpler system. There are now only three rank badges for senior Chief Warrant /Petty Officer positions. These are: Higher Formation Chief Warrant Officer, Command Chief Warrant Officer, and Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer.
